The “Römer” in Frankfurt

The Frankfurt Cathedral

The cathedral in the immediate vicinity of the Römer is the third church to be built at this location. After the cathedral was destroyed in the Second World War, intensive work is now being done on its reconstruction. During the work, an old thermal bath from Roman times was uncovered.

The old opera in Frankfurt

The old opera in Frankfurt was designed in 1880 and – like many other buildings in Frankfurt – was financed directly by the citizens of Frankfurt. Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana celebrated its premiere here in 1937.
